FAQ

Q.) What are Sportabets® and Funabets?

A.) Sportabets® and Funabets are character-filled alphabets created by Wisconsin artist Barry Hautala. Sportabets® are alphabets filled with colorful sports characters! Funabets are alphabets filled with colorful animals, bears, dinosaurs, clowns, or other characters. There are 11 different alphabets in all and more are being designed to appeal to even more buyer interests. Many of the alphabets, especially the Sportabets® are available in many different color combinations, to suit a variety teams interested in their having them made in their own team colors.

As a fund raising group, your supporters choose from any of the Sportabets® or Funabets available and have a name(s) (up to 9 letters) created on prints that can be matted and framed or pressed on various style t-shirts and sweatshirts. Our personalized products are fun to give and receive!

Q.) How do groups sell products featuring Sportabets® and Funabets?

A.) There are many ways for a group to sell our personalized products. Word of mouth and personal networks seem to work well as do displays at events such as games or tournaments. But, since our aim is to reduce or eliminate much of the traditional work associated with fund raising, we are proud to present a new way to accomplish this through our Website for fund raising groups! With our website program, fund raising can happen anytime and anywhere and with less effort! Here are the details!

51 Fun Graphics has developed a fun and interactive friendly website for groups to use to sell our products. Our website allows customers to create names right on-line for viewing prior to placing an order directly through our secure site. However, in order for you to raise funds, we program a BUTTON with your group's name on it and place it on our website in a visible location. A CLICK of the button is all it takes for the consumer to identify that he/she wants YOUR GROUP to receive a COMMISSION on any purchase made through the site!

Q.) As part of the website program, what is expected of our group?

A.) Your group is responsible for promotion of the website. You need to tell your members the website address (51fun.com) and make them aware of the unique personalized products available! Explain to them that by buying these products, your group benefits by receiving a commission! MAINTAIN AWARENESS OF THE SITE possibly by keeping ads in each newsletter, putting up posters, putting flyers in handout packages or including mention of the site in general group correspondence. We can provide a customized ad for your group if you wish. Holidays, birthdays, births, are just a few of the times people may be looking for something unique to purchase such as our personalized products!

Q.) What does our group need to do to get started?

A.) It is easy and straight forward to get started. Your group or organization needs to provide the following:

  • It's Tax Identification Number (TIN) or show some other proof of non-profit status.
  • Contact Information for the group and its leadership including:
    • Official group name and current officers
    • Type and size of group or organization
    • Designated contact person(s) for us to work with
    • Addresses
    • Phones
    • Faxes
    • E-mail Addresses
    OPTIONAL
  • Group member's e-mail addresses which we will use in mass promotions by 51 Fun Graphics intended to benefit your group
  • Group's current website address and permission to link our fund raising site to it.

Q.) Are samples available?

A.) YES! After receipt of your proof of non-profit status, you can receive one (1) free sample, either a matted print or T-shirt using any name and alphabet style of your choice. Just email your TIN or proof of non-profit status and sample request.

Q.) What are the obligations of 51 Fun Graphics to our Group?

A.) 51 Fun Graphics will provide:

  • Timely delivery of quality products.
  • A Satisfaction Guarantee on our products.

Q.) What age group are best suited for these products?

A.) First, the people who buy the most are parents with infants to children in their early teens. Additionally, parents and coaches have also been the recipient of many of our Sportabets® designs either as a wall hanging or on a shirt. Sportabets® are suitable for newborns through early teens. Funabets appeal to families with infants up into grade school. So, assuming a member has family or friends within these age groups, we feel it would be relatively easy for each member to be responsible for the sale of a few items annually. Based on our sales experience, we're confident people will buy more than once, so fund raising for your group will continue with less effort on your part.

Q.) What if some member families want to support our group's fund raising efforts but just don't have anyone in mind at this time?

A.) Gift certificates are available for use at a later date such as the birth of a friend's child, a birthday, holiday, et. Gift certificates are good for 2 years from date of purchase and are available in $5.00 increments.

Q.) Our group is for example, a youth hockey group, and we want to raise funds. Are we limited to just selling personalized products using the hockey alphabet?

A.) No, while we think names made from say, a hockey alphabet, would likely sell best to a group of hockey families, we've found our other Sportabets® and Funabets are also frequently purchased by the same families. That is one reason our website is designed to make all character style alphabets available to our fund raising groups. The variety among our Funabet and Sportabet lines increase our appeal to a broader buyer base and in turn increases your chance for raising more funds.

Q.) How long does it take to receive an order?

A.) Your orders will be shipped within 1 to 3 weeks once they're received by us. 10 days has been typical for shipping most orders unless a special request is made.

Q.) How do groups actually promote the website?

A.) Promotion of the website can be accomplished in many ways AND 51 Fun Graphics will help you by providing sample letters to parents and/or black & white ads for mailings, insertion into your own newsletter, tournament rosters, special event flyers / handouts or even local newspapers.  Contact us to request a listing of marketing ideas.

One idea is that if your group is well connected by email, we (or you) can send a mass e-mail promotional messages to encourage sales. Also, as special product promotions are developed by 51 Fun Graphics, we can e-mail your members and encourage them to visit the site, see the products being promoted and most of all don't forget to select your group's name in the drop down window before you buy.

Q.) Once people buy through the website, what responsibility does our Group have?

A.) As orders are made through the website, 51 Fun Graphics will receive and fill them and send the products directly to the buyer. After this point, no one in your group has to do anything unless you want the orders sent to you for distribution.

Q.) How are sales generated by our group tracked?

A.) Our database tracking system shows that the order originated from your group and tells us who to pay commission to.

Q.) How much are we paid and when?

A.) Your group receives a generous percentage of the suggested retail price for every product it sells. The percentage for each product is based on the internet prices shown on our website at www.51fun.com. Depending on the product sold, your group's actual commission will range from $2.50 to $9.00 an item. The average commission on all products is about $5.00

Q.) How much money can our group make?

A.) First, as your likely aware, it's important to set goals. With that in mind, the answer is really up to you. A scenario many clubs can identify with is as follows:

Assume the following:  Your group has 200 members

  • 50% of the group participate in fund raising
  • Each participant sells an average of 3 items (remember, sales are generated through the website and can happen anytime and from any place so emails to family and friends can be an easy way to reach out to those in other places)
  • The average product commission to the group is $5.00.
  • Your group's commission is calculated as 200 members X .5 X 3 X 5.00 = $1500.00

Obviously, more participants and higher sales per person will generate more commission. So, if you have 1000 members, simply multiply the above accordingly!

Q.) Is there a cost to our group?

A.) There is no cost to you to have you added to our website.

Q.) Who is the artist?

A.) Barry Hautala of Stevens Point, WI. Barry is partner in 51 Fun Graphics located in Green Bay, WI. He has been a grade school physical education teacher for nearly 26 years and has been drawing characters alphabets for nearly 15 years. His first group of alphabets called Funabets is still being sold. Funabets appeal to parents with infants and very young children, and they've also been popular with teenage girls. The sports alphabets called Sportabets® were created in October of 1998 and have been popular with sports teams looking for new ways to raise funds.

Q.) What input, if any, does our group have in product design?

A.) Usually the input we receive from clubs or organizations has to do with colors and we welcome that input! In many school or sports situations, we make an effort to provide not only your particular team colors but those of many teams in your league to widen our product's sales appeal.
